Literacy Pittsburgh is pleased to host the premier conference on adult literacy and second language acquisition in the beautiful Steel City!

The annual international Literacy Education and Second Language Learning for Adults (LESLLA) Symposium brings together researchers and practitioners or educators who share an interest in the development of second language skills by adult and adolescent immigrants with little or no schooling prior to entering the country of entry. According to UNESCO, 1 in 5 adults throughout the world cannot read or write in any language. Due to geopolitical upheaval, many of these adults move to countries where they must learn to read and write for the first time while learning a second language. LESLLA researchers, practitioners and educators work with these learners to help them achieve their goals.

The Call for Proposals is now open now through March 22, 2019 at 5 pm EST.

Conference Registration will open in the spring.
